The Cityside College 2009 Accreditation Team Review many of the LACCD 9 campuses. LATTC according to the teams' report stated that college has a very strong brand and very positive student engagement but somewhat concern with the lack of technology upgrades and other issues that the accreditation team deem not satisfactory.
Many were issues that were raised by an earlier accreditation team that still was dealing with Student Learning Outcomes, Integrated Planning and Program Review, Shared Governance, Administrative Turnover, and Campus Climate and Dialogue.
The Summary of Recommendations
Student Learning Outcomes:
The college must implement and assess SLO’s at the institutional, course, and program level and use these assessments for continuous program improvement.
Integrated Planning and Program Review:
The college must follow up on the past recommendations to link program review and integrated planning budget.
Shared Governance:
The quality of all shared governance processes must be evaluated and steps must be taken to ensure active participation of all constituencies.
Administrative Turnover:
The college must investigate the reasons underlying the high turnover rate for senior administrative staff.
Campus Climate and Dialogue:
College leadership at all levels must work together to create forums that invite open dialogue on all critical campus issues.
Only time will tell in my opinion if the District and the current college administration will make the corrections needed for this institution to remain a viable place for higher learning.
