All of us need to be aware of this planed drill so we won't be caught off guard when the big one hits, and it will hit it just a matter of time.
The 2011 Great California ShakeOut is occuring statewide on October 20th at 10:20 a.m. Register today!
The California ShakeOut drill is held on the third Thursday of October each year. Other areas are also holding ShakeOut drills.
More than 7.9 million Californians participated in 2010, practicing Drop, Cover, and Hold On and other aspects of family, school, and organizational emergency plans.
Federal, state, and local emergency management experts and other official preparedness organizations all agree that "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" is the appropriate action to reduce injury and death during earthquakes. The ShakeOut is our opportunity to practice how to protect ourselves during earthquakes. This page explains what to do-- and what not to do.
