Lady Beavers Get Blown Out by SBVC 77-59

The Women's team was awarded the 2nd seed in the SoCal Regional's, finishing the regular season with an overall record of 26-2 and winning the Foothill Conference title outright for the first time since 2008 with a record of 13-1. The Foothill Conference is represented very well in the Regional's, with four teams making the playoffs. Antelope Valley is the eighth seed, Mt. San Jacinto is the tenth seed, and Chaffey is sixteenth. Fullerton is the number one seed in the south and Fresno City is the number one seed in the north. The L.A. Trade Tech at Santa Barbara match up will take place on Wednesday, February 23rd at 7 p.m.

The Santa Barbara City Vaqueros could arrive at Joseph W. Snyder Gymnasium with a record of 20-10. Their last game was a Western States Conference-North Division match-up on 2/19 at San Luis Obispo Cuesta, where the Vaqueros won 70-51. The Vaqueros started the season 7-3 and is 6-4 in their last 10 games. The Vaqueros finished the 2010-11 season fourth in the Western States Conference-North Division with a record of 7-5, with an overall record of 20-10. Santa Barbara City enters the state regional as the fifteenth seed. Santa Barbara City is coached by Sandrine Krul in her seventh season. Krul was named WSC-ND Coach of the Year in 2006 & 2010, and played Women's Basketball at Cal State San Bernardino. The last time SBVC faced Santa Barbara City was this season in the tournament finals of the Santa Barbara City College MTXE Tournament on November 20, 2010, where SBVC won 80-56.

The Los Angeles Trade Technical College Beavers arrive at Joseph W. Snyder Gymnasium with a record of 15-11. Their last game was a South Coast Conference match-up on 2/18 at home versus Mt. San Antonio, where the Beavers lost 70-52. The Beavers started the season 7-3 and is 5-5 in their last 10 games. The Beavers finished the 2010-11 season fourth in the South Coast Conference with a record of 10-6, with an overall record of 15-11. L.A. Trade Tech enters the state regional's as the eighteenth and final seed. L.A. Trade Tech is coached by Kim Bly. 

Bly, last year, was honored with the 2010 "Lisa Leslie Inspiring Women Award." SBVC had never faced L.A. Trade Tech.

  2. I am very proud of our young women's basketball team. They played their hearts out every game. They show that they will be a force next season, so South Coast Conference you better beware!!!
